On Sunday 18 May, the faith community of Sint-Kwinten was privileged to host the papal nuncio, Archbishop Franco Coppola. A full church with many young families actively participated in the liturgy in French, Dutch, and English.
The community’s African choir and a Ukrainian choir ensured that this celebration was truly a reflection of the universal Church, together with priests from various continents. After the Gospel reading, in which we heard, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13, 35), Archbishop Coppola spoke in his homily of the need to translate this mutual love into concrete actions.
At the end of the celebration, all the children present, in this month of May, brought a flower to the statue of Mary, and everyone sang the Regina Coeli.
After the celebration, the nuncio took time to talk at length with everyone during hospitality in the Sint-Kwintenshuis.
