First Advent Candle is Lit

On Sunday 30 November we celebrated the First Sunday of Advent. The first Advent candle was lit as we listened to a poem:

“The first candle of Advent is lit.
A baby will soon come into our lives.
We wait patiently, the stable is still closed.
The earth does not yet bear a happy face.
But look, with one candle it is already becoming light.”

Our Solidarity Table at the back of the church is ready to receive non-perishable food items, and this coming Sunday, 7 December, we will organise ‘Soep op de stoep’ (‘Soup on the Sidewalk’) to raise funds for the Flemish solidarity organization ‘Welzijnzorg’.

In prayer, silence, and solidarity, we prepare for the coming of Jesus the Messiah, the Incarnate Word and Saviour of the world.
