Sunday 19 October was a special day for the English-speaking catechumens and candidates for confirmation in our Pastoral zone of Leuven aan de Dijle. They gathered in the Sint-Kwintenskerk for the Sunday Eucharistic Celebration.
Yuwen, Solomon, Lana, Vitor, and Mert, who are preparing for the sacraments of initiation, were officially welcomed into the church and supported in their desire to be baptized and confirmed and to receive communion for the first time. Rafael, Paulina, and Antonio were welcomed as candidates for confirmation. All this will take place on Saturday 4 April 2026 during the Easter Vigil in Sint-Pieterskerk in Leuven.

You can become a Christian at any age, but you are never alone as a Christian. More and more often, young adults are consciously choosing to become Christians or rediscover their faith and are seeking contact with the Church community. Some have been baptized but have never had a real initiation into Christian life, while others still have to take their first steps.
In Leuven, two groups meet twice a month on Friday evenings at the Sint-Kwintenshuis. The English-speaking group, with Fr. Nani, Fr. Jude, Br. Jason, and Patrick as their catechists, and the Dutch-speaking group, with Deacon Marc and Fr. Trésor, who accompany them on this journey of faith.
In other places in our vicariate Vlaams-Brabant en Mechelen, too, we are seeing an increase in catechumens and candidates for adult confirmation.
Supported by the prayers and friendship of the local faith community, accompanied by their catechists and sponsors, they are on their way to deepening their friendship with Jesus, opening themselves to the Holy Spirit, and becoming children of the Father.
