“Light a Candle” has become a beautiful tradition in our Leuven pastoral zone. Gathering on a dark evening during Lent and Advent to simply light a candle. It contains so much beauty and symbolism in such a small gesture.
On Wednesday night, 17 December, we welcomed more than 500 people into the Sint-Pieter’s Church in the Grote Markt. They came to light a candle, pause for a brief moment, or sometimes – together with Mary – keep vigil. There were warm conversations, and the light of candles and friendly faces dispelled the darkness.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped to make sure everything ran smoothly.
