Saint Martin lantern procession

On Saturday 9 November a group of young children and their parents gathered at Sint Kwinten’s Church to learn about and celebrate the life and example of Saint Martin.
We started off at the back of the church, where with the help of some photos from a YouTube Lego video, the children learnt about the life of Saint Martin (although many already knew lots – impressive!). We then practiced some songs before lighting our lanterns and heading off into the Begijnhof. After a short walk and lots of singing we stopped for refreshments before returning to the church.
Many thanks to all who took part – the children really enjoyed themselves! We hope that they will be inspired by Saint Martin’s example to follow God’s call and always share with those in need. A special thanks to Krystyna and Hilde for organizing the lantern making workshop and the delicious refreshments!
