A sun-drenched Mechelen. On the weekend of 5 and 6 March, six adult candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation, together with their sponsors and supporters, travelled from Leuven to the episcopal city. Together with nineteen catechumens and six other adult confirmands, they attended a catechesis given by Auxiliary Bishop Koen Vanhoutte on Saturday and the ‘Rite of the Election’ during the Eucharist in the Sint-Rombout’s cathedral on Sunday.
It is a beautiful and hopeful sign that these – for the most part – young people desire to take this important step in their faith life and grow in their desire to become fully Christian in today’s world.
The Leuven faith community joyfully welcomes Jeannette, Fernando, Martina, Gabriel, Maria Laura, and Lea into its midst and looks forward with them to the celebration of their Confirmation in Sint-Kwinten’s church on Pentecost Sunday.
