During the Gospel reading of the Feast of Epiphany on Sunday 8 January 2023, we heard, “And behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with very great joy.” (Matthew 2, 9-10)
Similarly, many from the North and South, East and West saw the star that brought them to hope-filled faith in Jesus. Gathered together from all parts of the world and of all ages, we too were allowed to look at Jesus during this feast and to meet Him with very great joy in His Word and in the Eucharist.
During the Eucharistic celebration, the members of the community team of Sint Kwinten were commissioned, and they answered wholeheartedly, “Yes, I am” to the question Father Juan Carlos put to them, “Are you willing to accept the ministry that has been entrusted to you in this community?”
Just as the three Magi from the East were very different from one another, so too are the various members of the community team, who are engaged in the domains of liturgy, evangelization, catechesis, diakonia, and community building.
Together with all the volunteers of Sint Kwinten, for whom special prayers were offered at the end of the celebration, Fr Juan Carlos, Fr Tuli, Annemie, Mark, Nic, Marc, Conrad, John, Stephanie and Henri will continue to work together to make the Sint Kwinten community a warm place that welcomes everyone who is seeking to get to know Jesus and his Gospel and wants to follow him in word and deed.
